Personal Training For Adolescents
Adolescence is usually defined as the time when children are between the ages of 12 and 18. This is often a very difficult period as so much is changing for young people, especially their bodies.
As their bodies mature and grow, it is important that teens and pre-teens get a healthy amount of exercise. Unfortunately, most teenagers do not. Obesity among secondary school students is rising at an alarming rate in Australia. It is estimated that 25% of teenagers in Australia are overweight/obese. Lack of physical exercise is a major contributing factor.
Exercise for adolescents is extremely important for developing a healthy body and mind. Exercise strengthens the heart and lungs, increases strength and endurance and assists in maintaining a healthy weight. Exercise for teenagers also helps to maintain a healthy fat/muscle ratio and also helps teenagers feel healthier and more alert.
Exercise is also important for the psychological well being of an adolescent helping to relieve anxiety and stress and also giving them a positive self-image and confidence. Introducing a teenager to regular exercise at this age also gives them an opportunity to develop a healthy life-style, and keep them active for life.
Incentive Personal Training Studio offers programs tailored specifically for people of these ages to keep them challenged and motivated. Resistance training for teenagers is safe when monitored and certainly does not stunt growth, in fact does the exact opposite.
